A mother of eight children last Tuesday gave up the ghost during a deliverance prayer session.

The incident occurred at the Apostolic Christian Church Mission, which is located at the premises of the Nigeria Railway Corporation in Port Harcourt. Our sources hinted that the mother of eight slumped and later died.

The woman whose name was given as Deaconess Ruth Ukandu, a native of Nsirimo, in Abia State was allegedly arrested by a strange illness.

In course of her said deliverance, she began foaming from her mouth. By the time people present could do anything, she slumped.

In a chat with the Telegraph, the husband of the deceased, Mr. Peter Ukandu, narrated how his lovely wife died. He said that they had just finished their breakfast when his wife informed him of her intention to go to the church to partake in the deliverance service. A little while later, he learnt that his wife who had left home in a very healthy state was dying in the church.

On getting to the church, he was intercepted by the church pastor who informed him that his wife was sleeping and needed rest. Continuing, the bereaved husband said the pastor urged him to go back to his house. Mr. Ukandu left to return moments later to discover his wife lying inert and gasping for breath.

He said that she was left in that condition until he confronted the pastor. To his surprise she was taken to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital where she was dumped without any attempt to secure admission for her until he had made every payment. The next morning, she was dead.

Unfortunately, that was not the first time Mr. Ukandu will lose a loved one to the church. His daughter of 18, had also died after prayers were said for her in the church a year before.

The bereaved man who looked every bit disorganized lamented his sad ordeal and the way the church had been bringing him much grief.

In his words: "My wife wey been dey well for morning go church die. Na so my pikin take die too for the same church last year. Dem just pray for her she come die for house, why their prayer dey kill my family people?"
